I'm totally in love with this small-town series and could not wait to revisit Papillion, Louisiana. Found within the pages of Lexi Blake's Bayou Baby is a heartwarming, moving story with all the feels. Sizzling passion, angst, scandal, relationship drama, an adorable little boy, a German Shepard that occasionally stole the spotlight, and a cast of memorable characters - captivated me from beginning to end. There's so much goodness to savor when a sassy, down on her luck single mom, Seraphina Guidry, falls for the ex-military hottie, Harrison Jeffreys. Sparks fly when this couple comes together in this eloquently written romance.
Facing many challenges while raising a toddler on her own, Sera's life is riddled with complications, including the inability to hold a steady job. Her luck begins to change when she finds herself the beneficiary of her late aunt's historic mansion and a small inheritance only to be used towards the repairs. To save Sera time and money, the sexy out-of-towner Harrison, a relative of Butterfly Bayou's wealthiest family, offered to lend her a hand. With an awkward beginning and a bumpy road towards love, this couple's experiences truly touched my heart.

What I adored most about Sera was her spirit. Regardless of her difficult circumstances, and bearing the brunt of Harry's wicked aunt's ire, this heroine managed to persevere. Throughout this read, she carried a tremendous amount of responsibility, secrets, and guilt. I admired Sera's courage in taking a faithful leap, opening her heart and life to Harry. There's were times his actions created more complications for poor Sera, but in the end, he was an enormous source strength and her perfect soulmate.

I immediately fell for big-hearted ex-army soldier turned handyman, Harrison. He's a drifter, a traveling man of sorts, who's temporarily in town to help with and attend his cousin's wedding. Meeting Sera was an unexpected game-changer - turning his world upside down while giving him the hope to settle and become a part of her family. However, there were so many obstacles for this couple to overcome. Secrets from the past, misunderstandings, and hurt feelings between Sera and his family, added loads of drama into this storyline, which had me on edge. There were times Harry's stubbornness frustrated me, but all in all, I adored this gentle hero for the way he loved Sera and the relationship he developed with her son Luc.

Another fantastic sexy yet emotional romance from Blake that I highly enjoyed and looking forward to the next installment Bayou Dreaming.

RELEASE BLITZ ~ #Giveaway ~ Review: Book of Love by Nina Lindsey

Title: Book of Love
Series: Bliss Cove #5
Author: Nina Lindsey
Genre: Spicy Sweet Contemporary Romance
Release Date: July 30, 2020

Blurb

High school literature teacher Grace Berry is an expert on Shakespearean love, but she knows almost nothing about real-life romance. She has no time to learn either, as she's busy battling overbearing parents, a bullying principal, and a stubborn father.

Then she suddenly finds out that award-winning author Lincoln Atwood is coming to take over her classes. No way will she surrender her authority to a hotshot male writer who doesn't know the first thing about poetry. Even if he is sinfully sexy.

After making a deal with his estranged brother, Lincoln is forced to stay in Bliss Cove for over a month. He'd much rather be racing sled dogs or mountain biking, so why not take a teaching gig to kill the time?

But Lincoln's belief that teaching will be "easy" is quickly proven wrong after he confronts the intriguing Grace with her embroidered sweaters and spine of steel. And when he learns about the sizable gap in Grace's education, the plot thickens considerably.

Too bad this beautiful teacher is off-limits...or is she?

I'm no longer wondering who wrote the Book of Love. It's Nina Lindsey, one of my all-time favorite authors, and her latest release was not only the best in the Bliss Cove series thus far, but my top summer-time read.

I adored visiting the small seaside town of Bliss Cove as this author's magical and world-building writing style completely swept me away. I'm fascinated by the lives of her characters and consumed with unearthing their experiences and secrets. Here, we meet the world-renown writer Lincoln Attwood and the feisty yet innocent Lit teacher, Grace Berry. A chance encounter at a diner while sharing the last piece of rhubarb pie led this couple to so much more, and their unforgettable and passionate journey towards love is an absolute must read.

Looks were deceiving when it came to Grace. At first, she seemed to be the typical timid and soft-spoken school teacher who was overwhelmed by the many circumstances which plagued her life: her dad, an ornery principal and a combative student were indeed some of her difficulties.

However, beneath the surface, Grace was a tigress ready to pounce and take on any challenge that came her way. She absolutely ROCKED as far as heroines go. I loved her tenacity and spunk when recognizing and achieving precisely what she wanted. Lincoln's presence was undoubtedly disruptive, forcing her to revise the entire course curriculum and co-teach with the sexy author. But despite her lack of experience, the chemistry between them ignited a flame within Grace, and she was determined to fulfill her desires. What began as an uncomfortable situation turned into a beautiful, loving and heartwarming relationship.

The worldly and famous Lincoln Attwood was the perfect match for Grace. An overachiever with a driven personality, Lincoln gave his all when it came to working with the red-headed prim yet sexy school teacher. It was adorable seeing them combat each other both inside and out of the classroom.

For the most part, Lincoln was extremely guarded and not one for long term relationships. Coming from a dysfunctional family and estranged from his younger brother Sam for years, tainted him. But since Grace unexpectedly entered into his life, Lincoln found himself falling in love. I relished seeing his character evolve from the aloof and stubborn man to the warm, loving, protective and possessive hero who quickly captured my heart.

Beautifully written and with all the feels, I've enjoyed every moment of Lincoln and Grace's journey. Nina Linsey has the gift of creating fascinating characters and a story-line that touches the very heart of me. Book of Love was no exception as this couple's instant connection and intense chemistry captivated me from beginning to end. Great fun spending time with the couples from previous installments as well as the cast of new and lovable characters. Five brilliant stars for another magnificent tale. The perfect read for fans of contemporary romances that I highly recommend.

Excerpt

“I told you I’m not good at relationships," he retorted. "Whereas you—”

“I what?”

“You’re goddamned made for…for being with someone. For…”

For being with me. The words almost flew out of his mouth before he could even process them. What the hell was he thinking?

Grace blew out her breath in an exasperated sigh. “I’m busy, all right? I don’t have time for a relationship.”

“Bullshit.”

“Lincoln! My classes and drama club take up a lot of time, I’m prepping for summer school, and I have to help my father.”

“Your father doesn’t need your help.”

Her eyes hardened. “You don’t know him. Or me, for that matter. You certainly have no business questioning my love life.”

“Given the way you kissed me the other night, yes I do,” he snapped.

She pressed her lips together, her flush deepening. “You made it quite clear you’re not interested.”

“That’s not what I was doing!” He turned abruptly, spreading his arms out. “The problem is that I’m too fucking interested. You’re damned right I’m fixated on you, and it’s driving me crazy. I’ve wanted you from the second I saw you sitting at the diner, I can’t stop staring at you in class, and all I want to do is kiss you again. Hell, half the time I can’t even think about anything except how much I want to touch you. If I had any intention of staying here, I—”

“Lincoln, will you have sex with me?”

Blog Tour ~ A Secret for a Secret (All In #3) by Helena Hunting @HelenaHunting #AllInseries #KingandQueenie

A Secret for a Secret, an all-new must read forbidden standalone romance that is sure to have you swooning from the start by New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting, is available now!
ASFAS - AN.jpg

From New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting comes a new romance about trading secrets, breaking the rules, and playing for keeps.

My name is Ryan Kingston, and I’m a rule follower. I’ve never been in a fistfight. I always obey the speed limit. I don’t get drunk, and I definitely don’t pick up random women at bars.

Except the night I found out that my whole existence has been a lie.

I got drunk. And picked up a stranger.

Her name was Queenie, and she was everything I’m not: reckless, impulsive, and chaotic. We did shots and traded secrets. And ended up naked at my place.

She left me a thank-you note in the morning and her panties as a parting gift. But no way to contact her.

Six weeks later I’m sitting in the first official team meeting of the season, and there she is. I neglected to mention that I’m the goalie for Seattle’s NHL team.

And Queenie? Turns out she’s the general manager’s daughter.

“You think our GM got himself an assistant?”

I follow his gaze to the front of the room. Standing at the desk with her back to us, arranging papers, is a woman with wavy chestnut hair that nearly reaches her waist. “Maybe an intern?”

She’s wearing a navy dress that conforms to her very feminine form. I trace the dip of her waist and the curve of her hip, skimming down to where the hem of her dress hits the bend in her knee. Her calves are bare, athletic, and toned, and her heels boast a little bow on the back. Classy, yet sexy. “Possibly.”

“I hope the eye candy is gonna be permanent,” someone at the table behind us says, loud enough for everyone close by to hear.

“I wouldn’t mind if she helped me with my jockstrap,” one of the other guys chimes in, eliciting a loud chuckle from the rest of the table.

I glance over my shoulder and pin them with an unimpressed glare. I recognize Foley from Tampa, and Dickerson is an LA trade. They’re notorious womanizers. “Watch your mouth and have some respect. That’s someone’s daughter.”

“Take it easy, King. It’s not like we’d actually say that to her face,” Foley says.

I don’t have an opportunity to reprimand him further because the GM, Jake Masterson, and our head coach, Alex Waters, enter the room through the side door. The GM crosses over to the woman, whose back is still turned to us, and he gives her a smile that seems . . . overly warm. He leans in and squeezes her shoulder as he says something with his mouth close to her ear.

“Maybe she’s not his assistant. Maybe she’s his new girlfriend, ’cause that looks pretty damn friendly to me.” Bishop jams a sausage link into his mouth.

“Maybe,” I agree.

She turns slightly, giving me a glimpse of her profile. Her cheeks are flushed pink. I blink a couple of times, because she seems incredibly familiar.

“I think I know her,” I mumble, more to myself than to Bishop.

“Not as well as our GM does, by the look of things.”

It hits me like a puck in the chest without pads on. I do know her. Queenie. My one-night stand who bailed the next morning and left a Post-it and panties hanging from my doorknob. Destroyed panties. “Oh God.”

Did I sleep with the GM’s girlfriend? Memories come barreling into my brain, and I want to sink into the floor. My behavior that night was highly atypical. Everything about that night was. I chalked it up to the alcohol, the family drama, and the fact that she seemed to be a very eager and willing participant in our adventures. Do not think about the things you did to her.

I’d be lying if I said I haven’t thought about Queenie and our night together. I’ve even considered driving by the bar where we met, but I don’t know if she’s likely to show up there. And it’s not as if I can ask the bartender about her without looking like a creep. Besides, if she wanted me to have her number, she would’ve left it.

“Are you okay? You look like you’re about to hurl,” Bishop asks.

I cover my mouth with my palm, not because I’m going to be ill but to hide the fact that it’s hanging open and I can’t seem to close it. Although my stomach is starting to do those awful somersaults that will soon turn into full-on nausea. The kind I used to get when I’d first hit the ice for a game.

This is bad. Really bad. I’ve never had a one-night stand before. I’ve always been in committed relationships, and I prefer to get to know my bed partners before they actually get into bed with me. Teen pregnancy was pretty common where I grew up in Tennessee, because there wasn’t much else to do apart from playing sports or getting into trouble with drugs and alcohol—my brother, Gerald, went the latter route. I obviously fit into the sports category. By the time I became a teenager, my parents had finally learned their lesson. It was drilled into me to never become that kind of statistic, or to turn my girlfriend into a mom before she was ready to take on more than senior-level algebra.

Ironic how my actual mother would’ve been one of those girls had my grandparents not made the choices they had.

“King?” Bishop nudges me. “You’re staring, man.”

Jake whistles with his fingers, causing the woman beside him to cringe but then quickly school her expression into an uncertain smile. “Who’s ready for a new season?”

He’s rewarded with a chorus of cheers from the players. Waters stands off to the side, clapping enthusiastically. He generally runs all team meetings, but Jake is a hands-on GM, so he always manages first meeting intros before he hands it over to our coach.

Jake waits for everyone to settle down and take their seats before he continues. “Gentlemen, I’d like to introduce you to my personal assistant, Queenie.” He throws his arm over her shoulder and pulls her into his side.

A hot spike of anger rushes down my spine—it’s a foreign feeling. I’m usually very level headed. But not right now. It’s obvious by the way Jake and Queenie interact that there’s a relationship there. Is she a cheater? Did she make me one? There’s a definite age gap. He’s young for a GM, but he’s in his forties, and I’m pretty sure she’s in her mid twenties.

“She also happens to be my daughter, so don’t get any ideas, boys.” He somehow manages to wink and glare at the same time.

And it just went from bad to worse.

My one-night stand isn’t my GM’s girlfriend; she’s his daughter.

My new favorite in this series, A Secret for a Secret was a delightfully sweet, sinfully sexy romance. Since meeting Ryan "King" Kingston in A Favor for a Favor, I was curious about this wholesome hockey player, and could not wait for his story. I had a hunch there was more to this strait-laced goalie than meets the eye and boy was he a pleasant surprise. What began as an evening of drinking, sharing secrets, and unbridled passion forever changed this couple's lives. A humorous and heartwarming opposites-attract love story, with a hint of drama and all the feels, King and his Queenie had me giggling and swooning throughout this entire read.

One drunken evening two strangers met, each feeling vulnerable, and decided to share their deepest secrets. The attraction between them was so intense, both were all in for an unforgettable one-night stand and later, haunted by the memories. It took a few months for King and Queenie's paths to cross again as they now work for the same NHL team. His hot hookup turned out to be the general manager's daughter, and worse, he unknowingly broke a significant rule ~ Queenie was off-limits. But that didn't stop King from pursuing and claiming his fair queen.

King was not your average hockey player and he threw me for a loop in a good way. I'm so used to the broody and abrasive hero typically found in sports romances. Then along came King, who was more boy scout than bruiser as he was gentle, patient, and incredibly loving. Even-tempered and a rule follower, he was the perfect gentleman with a tremendous heart. The way he loved, encouraged and protected Queenie had me gushing.

King also possessed a delectable dirty side that I completely LOVED. Beneath that clean-cut persona, lived a lustful and dominant man, who was a beast. I just adored both sides of his personality.

Queenie Masterson was a flaky hot mess. Funny, witty, and beyond kind, she was a sweet and likable heroine. Pandemonium seemed to surround her, which I found endearing, as it only added to her sparkling personality. Her chaos added light and life to King's relatively calm world.

However, Queenie struggled with insecurity issues, believing she was unworthy and inadequate, especially when it came to accomplishing goals. I admired the way she fought to overcome these feelings of self-doubt to find her courage, passion, and strength. And with King by her side, it was a beautiful thing to see Queenie blossom.

I enjoyed every moment of King and Queenie's journey, as they had a deep connection, a tremendous amount of chemistry, and complemented each other beautifully. Great fun spending time with this loony crew of both old favorites and lovable new characters. The Waters' kiddies were adorable and I could not help falling in love with them. The relationship between Queenie and Lavender Waters was particularly touching. A Secret for a Secret was another fun and flirty romantic comedy from Hunting's creative imagination. If you are looking for an amusing and sexy read, this romance is definitely for you.
