 Our Sizzling Review

If you enjoyed the first book in the Tangled series - then you are definitely going to love Matthew and Dee's story.  Their story goes along the same timeline as when Kate and Drew started out, but you get their side of things and how they got together and became a couple.

After the second book in the Tangles series, which was so angsty to me - I was so glad that this book had way less drama and was just an enjoyable light-hearted love story - with just a little trouble from Dee!!  These two together had me laughing at times, as Dee sure gave "clit-boy" (a.k.a. Matthew) a run for his money.  She was sure she couldn't "do" relationships and wanted casual - but Matthew was going to show her that she was wrong.

Matthew really tried to prove himself to Dee as he battled her constant insecurities, trying to continually show her that he was there for the long haul.  I actually felt bad for him at times, because you could really feel the depth of his feelings for her - and she just couldn't grasp or trust those feelings.  Luckily, Dee finally realized what Matthew really meant to her.

I loved the humor in this book the most - and these two people together were classic.  A great romance that will have you smiling along the way!!

Dee defends a horrible chick flick suggestion. “I like best friend movies—they’re very empowering. Thelma and Louise, Beaches, Steel Magnolias—that one’s my favorite. I always imagine me and Kate like Ouiser and Clairee when we’re old.”

She looks simultaneously surprised and appalled. “You’ve never seen Steel Magnolias? Are you even human? It was one of Julia Robert’s first movies.”

I throw up one hand as I object. “No—no frigging way am I watching Julia Roberts! Drew went through a whole year of Julia Roberts as a kid and he still hasn’t recovered. To this day, Pretty Woman quotes come flying out of his mouth uncontrollably. Not happening.”

Ok what did I just read?? I can not say loud enough that this book had everything I love from a story.  This was a love story that encompassed so many different couples. I was so excited to see that this was not only a sequel about Lucian and Darcy but also a continuation of the epic love story of Trace and Ember from Beautifully Damaged. That couple gave me a book hangover like no other and Lucian begged his story to be told from the moment he appeared in the previous novel. I am so overwhelmed right now that I'm a loss for words and anybody who knows me can tell you that this is rare.  Lucian was so intense and passionate that I fell for him right away. His heart was so big and he had such loyalty to anybody who was important to him. I found that their love story was bittersweet in so many ways. While I found myself riveted and hungry for them to find their wait back together, I felt it couldn't be rushed and it was written in a beautiful way, slow yet truthful. What I really adored is how the humor in this book kept it from being too dark and emotional. Lucian had a way about him that showed a playful side and I found myself smiling and swooning a time or two.    “You claimed me at sixteen, so I claimed you right back. And with that group of gossiping divas, in under an hour the entire place is going to know that you aren’t just some girl, but that you are my forever girl.”   While the reconnection of Darcy and Lucian was very very important, there were so many other story lines in play. Friends weren't always friends and enemies turned into some pretty strong alliances. I was on the edge of my seat throughout not knowing what was going to happen because this author kept me guessing the entire time. The heat in this book was scorching and enjoying two love stories at the same time was just a sexy treat. I am so happy with how this amazing story concluded and look forward to the next gift this author treats us with.    *Copy provided for honest review.

Lucien watched as Darcy struggled to get the printer working. Even from his distance he could hear the cursing, which made him smile. It had been a week since their relationship had taken a very pleasant turn. She was still just as feisty as he remembered and it wasn’t hard for him to recall why he had fallen for her in the first place. Their sparring was verbal foreplay and he fucking craved it. His eyes moved over her. Her body was nothing like the one he had known, with curves that his hands itched to touch. Her hair was up, though he preferred it down, and tendrils were falling out of the twist. He remembered vividly the sight of it spread out over his pillow.

He had to admit that she was still just as interesting to him as she had been at fourteen. Despite everything, she was still his Darcy—sweet, witty, and guileless, except at the moment. She looked about ready to torch the printer, so he moved to help her. As he approached, she was actually staring into the paper tray, yelling at the creatures that lived inside it.

He chuckled, which must have taken her by surprise, because she leaped backward and landed on his foot.

“Fuck!” he cursed.

“Sorry.”

He looked down at her strappy sandals with heels high enough to stake a vampire and had a vision of those legs draped over his shoulders. Instantly, he was hard.

“I was going to offer to help you. The printer can be temperamental, but now I’m bleeding out from a stab wound.”

She didn’t miss a beat. “It probably didn’t even break the skin. What is it you guys say? Rub some dirt into it.”

He eyed her shoes. “Those things should be listed as lethal weapons.”

“Hardly. There are far cheaper ways to kill someone.” She bent to stare into the printer again and Lucien took the opportunity to check out the curve of her ass in the little black skirt she wore.

“Stop checking out my ass and help me.”

Not at all repentant for getting caught staring, he replied easily, “It’s a paper jam.”

He thought he was being helpful and when she straightened slowly, he entertained the notion that she was struggling with the need to throw herself into his arms in gratitude.

One look at her face, though, and he knew he wasn’t going to be copping a feel.

“Your powers of deduction are astounding. Seriously, you should give a seminar on mastering the obvious.”

He tried not to laugh, but he lost that battle. And she responded by flaying a layer of skin off him with her sharp tongue.

“I know it’s a paper jam, Sherlock, I just can’t find it.”

“It’s usually in the back,” Lucien said as he reached for the back of the printer, his arm brushing up against her on purpose. Darcy’s inhaled breath in response had his balls tightening. He dislodged the paper and pulled it free.

He turned to her with a smug smile, which she returned with uncanny accuracy before she said, “Thanks. I almost lost my cool.”

“Almost?”

A slight smile touched her lips. “I should go restart my print job.”

“Probably, unless you can get the little men in the printer to do it.”

Brownies.”

“What?”

She laughed. “Not the baked goods, the little mischievous mystical creatures.”

“They live in my printer?”

“Maybe.” She started away, but stopped and turned to him.“Thanks.”

“Have dinner with me tonight.”

She eyed him through her lashes before she said, “You’re on.”

And then she turned and disappeared into her office.

“Lena, you seen my old black Led Zep shirt?”
“Nope.”
“You sure?” His brows became one dark cranky line. The scratches on his face were healing well, thank goodness. Though it didn’t reduce my desire to throttle his mother on a daily basis.

Can’t find it anywhere…”
“And this is a surprise, how?” I slipped my hands into my back jean’s pockets. “Jimmy, you own more clothing than Cher, Brittney, and Elvis, put together. Things are bound to go missing.”
“Sure you haven’t seen it?”
“For goodness sake, what do you think, Jimmy? That I stole it to sleep in or something?” I laughed bitterly. Sure as hell, the truth deserved a good mocking. I’d sunk so despicably low.
I hadn’t even meant to steal the stupid thing, but the shirt had been mixed up with my laundry a few days ago. It’d been the first top I laid my hand on after stepping out of the shower, ready to go to bed. Without thought, I’d put it on and it’d been so soft, the scent of him lingering beneath the laundry detergent. Every night since, I’d found myself in it come bedtime. My shame knew no limits. And no, I still hadn’t quit. The words still hadn’t come even close to leaving my mouth.
He frowned. “No.”
“That I have some deep secret longing to feel close to you resulting in my stealing your shirt like some creepy perv?”
“Course I don’t fucking think that,” he replied crankily, reaching up to grip the top of the doorframe. All of his bulging muscles stretched the arms of his white T-shirt in the nicest way. It was all I could do not to start drooling, my heart beat taking up residence somewhere down between my thighs. And who could blame it? Not me. Maybe if I got laid, this would go away and things would return to normal. It’d seemed safer to avoid rubbing up against any men just in case I got carried away and started dating again. This new situation, however, changed everything.
“Well, of course not! That would be crazy.” And wasn’t that the god’s honest truth? Cray-zeee. Lock me up and throw away the key because it wasn’t like I didn’t know better.
“Just can’t figure out where the hell it could be.”

I absolutely love this series!!  These four guys have totally stolen my heart, and I really wish they were an actual band, so I could totally go all "fan girl" on them - listening to their music on my ipod, and hanging posters of them on my wall!!

This story is about Jimmy, David's brother, a recovering addict - who is working hard on staying clean, and taking care of the people he loves.  Lena, through a strange twist of fate, is unexpectedly hired by the band to be Jimmy's "sobriety companion".  Jimmy is not the easiest person to be around - she learns that very fast, but she can handle him - she's not going to let him walk all over her.

The problems for Lena begin, when she realizes as she's spending time with Jimmy, being his companion and assistant, that she is slowly falling for him.  She knows she needs to either get over this infatuation or quit her job - Jimmy would never want her.  My heart hurt so much at times for Lena, as I think a lot of us know the pain of "unrequited" love at one time in our life.  She was so brave - I don't know how she had the nerve to tell Jimmy exactly how she felt about him - I could have never been that brave for sure.

How to describe Jimmy??

Well, he's a total contradiction when I think about it.  He's a recovering addict, a former man-whore, extremely private, fiercely protective of his brother and those he cares about - but he is so very naive at relationships.  He seriously thought he could help Lena get over him.  I did have to laugh at some of his attempts at that, but deep down my heart broke for Lena, because she knew it would never work, she'd always have feelings for Jimmy.  She had to leave.

This is where I'll leave the rest for you to enjoy and read - and see how these two work out whether they should be together - or go their separate ways.  My stomach was in knots at times, I just wanted to give Lena the biggest hug ever, yet I couldn't hate Jimmy for the life of me.  He had his reasons for all of his feelings and actions.  I just love these two people.

I devoured this book for sure - but I have to say though, that so far, Mal is still my favorite of the four, he just makes me smile, and holds a special place in my heart.  I was so glad there was some of his "craziness" and antics in the book - along with Killer's appearance too!  But to be fair, before I pick my favorite in the band I'll wait for Ben's story - who knows he may end up being my favorite of the group!
Rock on Stage Dive!!!

Kylie Scott never ceases to amaze me.I was kinda scared when I heard about Jimmy's book. See I have a love hate relationship with brooding heroes. I want to kiss them and fix them and just make it all better.    but.....   I find that they have to have the right balance of jerk to sweetheart to keep me from full on despising them.    Well, Jimmy was the sweetest jerk I've read I do believe. That might be an oxymoron but well it's true. He had this tough exterior but his heart was beating so loud and it pounded through that shell so clearly that Lena felt it and responded in just the way he needed. She was her own strong and sassy self and gave as good as she got. I found myself laughing so many times at Lena's inner dialogue. It would take a very strong lady to put up with Jimmy and Lena was just what he needed.  The chemistry was set on simmer from the first page and it slowly built to a rolling bowl..and boom!  It was hot!      As the dust settles we  found that when Jimmy was his most stubborn, Lena did what needed to be done to wake him up. For a guy that could barely say the word love..without grimacing..to watch him fall face first was the biggest and sweetest treat of all.    I really enjoyed this funny and sexy read so very much and can't wait for Ben's story.
