Blog Tour: Making Faces by Amy Harmon

https://mail-attachment.googleusercontent.com/attachment/u/0/?ui=2&ik=e038fdc591&view=att&th=141f7a50ab06ae47&attid=0.8&disp=inline&realattid=f_hn9mrfhf9&safe=1&zw&saduie=AG9B_P9NupXz8XTZKzDhs76z9LwU&sadet=1382865806975&sads=4CVKixGncgXnfiS3yvkJYTm4zwM

Ambrose Young was beautiful. He was tall and muscular, with hair that touched his shoulders and eyes that burned right through you. The kind of beautiful that graced the covers of romance novels, and Fern Taylor would know. She'd been reading them since she was thirteen. But maybe because he was so beautiful he was never someone Fern thought she could have...until he wasn't beautiful anymore.
Making Faces is the story of a small town where five young men go off to war, and only one comes back. It is the story of loss. Collective loss, individual loss, loss of beauty, loss of life, loss of identity. It is the tale of one girl's love for a broken boy, and a wounded warrior's love for an unremarkable girl. This is a story of friendship that overcomes heartache, heroism that defies the common definitions, and a modern tale of Beauty and the Beast, where we discover that there is a little beauty and a little beast in all of us.

Thank you to Amy Harmon one very delightful lady for offering this ARC for honest review. Sizzling Pages is so pleased!

Writing a review about a book that consumed and brought forth every emotion I have ever felt is hard. I am still reeling. I feel like I've been through something devastating but beautiful. I feel like my heart has footprints on it. I'm not trying to be melodramatic. I'm trying in the best way possible to convey the sheer tragic beauty of this story. I love to read and everybody that knows me has heard me rant or rave about this book or that book. But this is different. This is something so profound that I don't even have the proper words to describe it because there is a part of me that is selfish. I want to savor every feeling that I'm having. I want to keep it and I'm afraid if I share it with you that it will leave me. Yes sounds crazy I know. But there is only one thing that you can do to understand what I am going through. That is simply to read ...not not just read ..but experience this piece of history. Because this book will go down in history. I also have been known to be a speed reader. This book can't be devoured in that sense. I had to close this book so many times only because I was so emotional that I had to let the words settle in my soul and I didn't want to stop feeling. I didn't want it to end and I'd reread passages over and over in utter awe at how devastatingly consuming they were. This is not just a romance although the romance has to be one of the most beautiful stories I've ever read. Ambrose and Fern were true soul mates. They loved each other with their whole spirit.

This is a book about every kind of love. Family, friendship and humanity.
The friendship between Bailey and Fern is the true depiction of unwavering devotion, steadfast loyalty and unconditional love. Bailey is the hero of this story. Yep, not Ambrose or Fern but Bailey. Bailey is the example of bravery in human form. Think about who is a Bailey in your life. I am lucky say I know a "Bailey" in mine.

“I bet your mom wishes she could put it in your baby book. She wrote down your first step, didn't she? She probably wishes she could write down your last.”
“She probably thought there would be more.” Bailey gulped and Fern could tell he was trying not to cry. “I thought there would be more. But I guess I used them all up.”
“I would give you some of my steps if I could,” Fern offered, her chin starting to wobble too. They cried together for a minute, two forlorn little figures on a hospital bed, surrounded by blue walls and Bailey's things.

We all try to be good people and we all try to believe that the inner person's beauty is what we are attracted to but the truth is we have all failed a time or more in doing this. But after reading this book I imagine there will be more people asking themselves this one question. Do I really see this person? What do I see? Do I see the heart on the inside or the spirit shining through.
pretty package can hide an evil heart but, a package with flaws can be the window to a heart that is beautiful behind comprehension.
You have to look beyond what you see and really truly look on the inside.

We are so lucky to be able to enjoy something that is going to transcend time but this story is going to be something our grandchildren will talk about. Get ready because when your done you'll be changed, I can promise you that.

Amy, Thank you. Thank you for sharing with us your heart. Your soul has to be one of the most passionate and beautiful souls out there. Your gift is what makes people like me love to read. This book is a gift to the world. The words on each page have left a scar..on my heart.

Amy Harmon knew at an early age that writing was something she wanted to do, and she divided her time between writing songs and stories as she grew. Having grown up in the middle of wheat fields without a television, with only her books and her siblings to entertain her, she developed a strong sense of what made a good story.

Amy Harmon has been a motivational speaker, a grade school teacher, a junior high teacher, a home school mom, and a member of the Grammy Award winning Saints Unified Voices Choir, directed by Gladys Knight. She released a Christian Blues CD in 2007 called “What I Know” – also available on Amazon and wherever digital music is sold. She has written five novels, Running Barefoot, Slow Dance in Purgatory, Prom Night in Purgatory, the New York Times Bestseller, A Different Blue and coming October 20, Making Faces.

Book Blitz: Infatuated by Elle Jordan

You can't hide from love...even when you want to.
When I took a job as a bartender at Hanson's to help pay for my classes, the last thing I expected to find was Kale Wilder. He's sexy, smart, and he makes me smile and laugh faster than anyone ever has. More importantly, he makes me believe in Mr. Right.
But Kale came to the wrong place at the wrong time, because someone else has his eyes on me. Someone who watches my every move.
Kale's the only one I want, but the more I feel for him, the more I fear for my safety. Because the other guy is getting closer and doesn't want to share. He's made it clear if he can't have me, no one can.

"You brought me a date?"
"I did," he said, rocking back on his heels.
I eyed him, then made a show of looking around. "Is he cute?"
The sputtering fish look that crossed his face made me feel better than it should have. He recovered quickly and nodded. "I think he's rather handsome. Kind of rugged. Blue eyes, dark hair."

Elle Jordan is the mastermind behind all kinds of things that need masterminds. …okay, not really, but she IS the mastermind behind…something. Her name, maybe.
Elle lives in the south, about an hour from the Happiest Place on Earth (aka Disney), drinks enough Mtn. Dew to keep the company in business, and has four lovable (read: evil and conniving) pets. She's also the secret, evil alter-ego of another name. She'd tell you that other name, but then it wouldn't be a secret.
When she isn't writing, she can usually be found on Facebook, Twitter, or with Photoshop open, making covers for books she doesn't have enough time to write.

Promo Blitz: Waterproof by Amber Garr

Waterproof Cover

Dying of thirst is the new reality.

Five years after the last drop of clean water disappeared, global societies collapsed and nuclear war shattered all hope of recovery. In a place now only a skeleton of its former self, survivors fight to avoid capture by the government. Forced to work in factories that produce the only drinking water available, those who go in, never come out.

Zach and Vivienne have lived as deserters since they were teenagers. Fighting amongst their own and scrounging for the necessities of life, they’ve learned to rely on each other in every way. Yet when tragedy strikes and the true objectives of the government facility are revealed, their world is ripped apart. A fate once thought to hold their demise may be the sole answer to their survival. Who can they trust? Who can they believe?

In this life, it pays to be waterproof.

Disclaimer: Waterproof is a new adult dystopian with sex, violence, and language that may not be suitable for a younger audience.

Vivienne yelled out and I whipped my head around to see what happened. The last man standing held an impressive hunting knife in his hand, while Vivienne had a fresh cut on her arm. Still, she held steady, sword gripped tightly in front of her, legs in a fighting stance.
Something stirred inside of me at the sight. Time slowed when I watched her wield the sword like an ancient warrior. It was hard to imagine that just a few years ago we were in high school worrying about football games and which party to go to on the weekend. Now we stayed in abandoned houses, scrounged for water, and spent most of our lives running. If things had been different, Vivienne and I would be graduating college this year. I had plans to go into medicine, and she wanted to be a vet. Funny how those dreams seemed so far away now.
A loud thump echoed through the now darkened night. She almost fell to the ground with the amount of momentum needed to decapitate the man. He dropped to his knees like a sinner begging for mercy, head rolling further down the hill. My stomach fluttered with admiration and annoyance.
“I didn’t need your help,” I said to her, getting up on my feet and trying not to wince at my injuries.
“Sure,” she huffed. Ripping her bandana off her face she tore it in two. “Here, wrap that up.” She nodded toward the tear in my sleeve and I stubbornly yanked the cloth out of her hand.
“I had everything under control,” I said between clenched teeth. It was the only way to mask the pain. “How did you know where to find me?”
“I followed the girly shrieks,” she said without missing a beat. I looked down at her in time to see a smirk pull at the corner of her mouth. “Let me do it.”
Once again, I allowed Vivienne to rescue me. It killed every part of that male ego inside, but I knew she’d let me do the same for her. In fact, I had. We always saved each other.
“Ow,” I said when she tightened the bandana a little too rough around my arm.
“Stop being a baby.”
“Stop showing off your man strength.”
She pulled even tighter but let a small laugh escape. I sucked in a breath at that sound, realizing how close I’d come to never hearing it again.
“Are you hurt anywhere else?” she asked, turning me around and patting her hands along my body. I froze, trying to ignore how comforting her touch felt. We’d been friends for years, and she was the only person in this world I trusted. Why had I risked so much for this run?
I stepped away from her, not liking where my thoughts were headed. “I’m fine,” I mumbled. “Stop mothering me."
“I wouldn’t have to if you’d listen to me.” She stopped in front of my face and stared me down. I stood a little over six feet tall and she was just a few inches shorter. Together with that glare, almost any man would cower under her. “Was it worth it?”
“Huh?”
“The water. How much did you get?"
I hung my head in embarrassment. “I had eight, but they shot through one. So six, I guess.”
“Six bottles?” She looked impressed.
“No, six liters.” Silence.
“You just made me kill three men for six liters of water?”
I shuffled my feet. “You only killed two.”
She reached out so quickly, I couldn’t defend myself. Both hands pushed against my chest and I stumbled back, falling to the ground.
“I could make it three,” she hissed. “I should kill you for your stupidity alone.”

I nod, and she makes her way down the hall that I now see is lined with photographs. My stomach tightens, but I figure that I need to get this over with if I’m going to be staying here.I walk towards them, stopping at the first picture. I’m guessing it’s from the day they first met, the time she told me about, because she’s giving him a playful frown while he’s grinning at her like he’s already half in love with her, which, to be honest, he probably was. I feel a slight twinge as I take in the picture, knowing that at that moment he had no idea how short of a life he was going to have with her. Hell, he probably wouldn’t have even cared, as long as he had her while he could. Shaking the thought out of my head, I browse each one. There are candid shots of them mixed throughout professional ones from events such as her graduation, Sierra and Jeremy’s wedding, and what looks like an engagement party. As I pass each picture, it’s becoming more real to me that she had a whole separate life before we reconnected. Strangely, I’m not bothered by it, seeing how happy she looks in these pictures, even though it was with another man and not me. I’ll admit that I was a little worried when she told me about their fighting, but looking at these pictures? I know Ty made her a happy woman, and I’m grateful that she had that while she could. Do I wish it had been me? Fuck yes, but what can you do? Coming to the last picture, I’m breathless as the image of Alexa in a wedding dress enters my vision. I’m moving in for closer inspection when she comes out of her room, stopping when she catches me. Her hand covers her mouth as she closes her eyes for a split second. She swallows hard before walking towards me. She reaches out her hand as if to touch my arm before pulling it back, obviously thinking better of it. “Jace, I… This is probably awkward, I’m sorry. I just… I wasn’t expecting you, and I don’t…” She trails off as she stares at the wall, glancing at the picture before turning her eyes towards the floor.

4.5 Holy Debut Author Stars

4.5
A love that started innocently on a baseball field in high school. The shy stats girl that loved the game and the popular jock second baseman that caught her eye. A friendship bloomed and both Jace and Alexa fall in a routine of affinity, never recognizing the true feelings they both share.

"I wake up with a wine-induced fog hanging over my head for the second, okay, third time this week." Alexa

The story begins with the loss of Alexa's husband, she has been in a deep depression not being able to get over not only the loss of her husband, friend and confidante. But the circumstances in which he was taken. A car accident was the culprit but heated words that could never be taken back were said and forever stained the core of Alexa's faith.

 photo heartatbeach_zpsbdf0aeff.jpg

Alexa's sister Sierra, her husband Jeremy and 4 year old niece Ava are determined to help Alexa start climbing out of her almost two year bleakness. For Sierra the perfect escape is her and Jeremy's ten year high school reunion in their hometown. She plots a way to make sure Alexa will be there and so will Jace McAllister. All of Lexi's memories of her high school and hometown are wrapped up with Jace and as nervous as she is to see him. The butterflies have never subsided.

A last night before deployment, a best friend and a promise made. That is how Jace and Alexa ended their time together. Through bad timing, an idiot friend and minds that weren't mature enough to follow through, hearts were broken.

 photo Fotor0102113348_zpse90a2bc1.png

Jace never stopped loving Alexa and through multiple deployments and women in his bed, he knew she could never be replaced. So when misfortune turns into another chance, Jace has to tread lightly to win the heart of his one true love.

This story was so engaging and so special in my eyes. A best friend turned love story. Misplaced emotions and baggage that ran deep. The perseverance on the part of Jace made me fall madly in love with him. I wanted to reach in the Kindle and force him to engage and save Lexi from another case of blue clit more than once. But in the end this story had everything I personally love in my books. True love, understanding and enough angst to keep my stomach from knots to flutters.

Through out this story I had the song Wanted by Hunter Hayes stuck in my head, looping non-stop. After reading this book and rating it I was lucky enough to get an email thanking me for giving the book a chance from author Tessa Teevan. I explained that this book really stuck with me and that I never had a song kind of attach itself to the story. She told me the song she listened to while writing. I am attaching a link to this song..because Tessa you win! Perfectly matched..

I'm a twenty six year old book junkie who is also obsessed with sports. Bengals, Buckeyes, Reds are my teams! I work for the government during the day, hang out with Air National Guard on the weekends, and am married to a guy 15 inches taller than me. We're quite the pair! We currently live right outside of Dayton, OH with our two cats. I've been reading since I was a kid. My mom was a librarian, so it was a given. Heck, she even made sure we watched Wishbone instead of the Smurfs. In 2011 when I graduated from college, my mom bought me a Nook, and then in the summer of 2012 I found this amazing site called Goodreads. I was introduced to so many amazing indie/self-published authors. After reading almost 400 books that year, my husband gave me the push to finally sit down and write my own. It was a rocky start, but over time the words started flowing and I couldn't get Jace and Lexi out of my head. If I’m not writing or looking through tons of photos of hot men, all in the name of research, then you can probably find me curled up with my Kindle, ignoring the rest of the world. I love my sports almost as much as I love my books. My other obsessions include red wine, hot men, country music, and all things Grace Potter. I LOVE to hear from readers, so please feel free to contact via any social media site listed below.
