In this sequel to Wallbanger,
the second book in the Cocktail series, fan favorites Caroline and
Simon negotiate the rollercoaster of their new relationship while
house-sitting in San Francisco.
Playing house was never so much
fun—or so confusing. With her boss on her honeymoon, Caroline’s working
crazy long hours to keep the interior design company running—especially
since she’s also the lead designer for the renovation of a gorgeous old
hotel on Sausalito. So with her hotshot photographer boyfriend
gallivanting all over the world for his job, she and Simon are
heavy-duty into “absence makes the heart grow fonder” mode. Neither has
any complaints about the great reunion sex, though! Then Simon decides
he’s tired of so much travelling, and he’s suddenly home more. A lot
more. And wanting Caroline home more, too. Though their friends’
romantic lives provide plenty of welcome distraction, eventually
Caroline and Simon have to sort their relationship out. Neither wants
“out of sight, out of mind,” but can they create their own happy
mid-ground cliché?
USA TODAY bestselling author Alice
Clayton delivers another delicious, frothy cocktail of a book, shaking
up her characters, stirring in laugh-out-loud humor, and serving
sizzling romance straight up
I am probably in the minority but when I escape into reading and find a book that makes me laugh and sigh with delight I am just happier than a clam. I hate angst and drama and so I really love it when I find sexy and funny reads.
From their sizzling times in the kitchen to the banter via text messages. I really adored this couple. Caroline is a riot and is one serious woman when it comes to her toys of pleasure.
Simon really captured my heart in Walbanger and he kept it in his sexy hands throughout this book too. I loved how he is just so sweet but hot as sin and freaking ready at all times to bang that wall.
Simon might be sweet and sensitive as I mentioned but when he flipped that switch it was serious business.
Total hotness really.
Yep if you are looking for fun and laughter with some hot sexy times thrown in this is the book for you.
Of course the adorable Clive is like my favorite character ..I have to confess..because I'm a big time cat lover. I just laughed so hard at his shenanigans. I just can't help but see this fat adorable fluffball that is so freaking spoiled..and it makes me want to see if my cat's will play kill the pony tail .
The one thing that really kept my attention was the whole Neal and Sophia roller coaster. I wanted to scream at them but at the same time I laughed so hard at the fights and squabbles. All the secondary characters in this series are just a riot and for me they just added that special zing to this one.
Alice Clayton has a way with banter and I really enjoyed this sexy and comedic read.

This story is the
continuation of Wallbanger and Pink Nightie Girl's story (aka Simon and
Caroline). It's a super light read, with little drama that basically
takes them through the ups and downs of their relationship and career,
as both grow and change in ways they never imagined.
Was I blown away by this
story? - No, but it was a sweet follow-up that included some back story
on Simon, all their crazy friends, some good laughs, a few banging
walls, Caroline's hot boss's husband, and Clive the cat.
Perfect for an easy summer read!

Rusty Nailed is the continuing love story of Caroline and Simon.
I loved Wallbanger. It was one of those reads that kept me in hysterics. Was happy to see this couple finally come together and Caroline was able to achieve the big “O”. Simon was adorably charming and sexy. A perfect compliment to Caroline’s flakey and funny ways. The hijinks between her, Simon and her close circle of friends set the storyline on an amusing and hilarious path.
In Rusty Nailed, Simon remained the ever serious and sensual gentleman. I found that Caroline’s character had changed a bit – she became serious, a little irritating and less flighty. Her life has taken a turn and pressures from both her personal and career life created havoc in her world. Once again, her boss plays puppet master, dictating the course of Caroline’s life by forcing her into a more domesticated situation as well as more business responsibilities. All these changes cause her to become uptight, as Simon slows down his travels to spend more time at home.
I am a fan of Alice Clayton. She delivers loveable and funny lighthearted romances. I liked Rusty Nailed, but the middle of the book dragged for me. The plot felt as if it stayed in limbo. There was very little insight into their lives and the progression of their relationship. Something was brewing with Simon; he was more introverted and mysterious. Yes, there is a point where he comes face to face with the heartbreak of his parent’s loss, but something seemed to plague him. What ever was troubling him was unresolved. Leaving me with unanswered questions about his behavior throughout the story.
I did enjoy catching up with the happenings of the secondary characters. High level of tension existed between Neil and Sophia. At times I wished this was their story – it kept the plot moving forward. Neil, of course did something incredibly stupid and Sophia was devastated. (Although, at times I wanted to scream enough already and get over it). Their drama made the read more interesting.
And of course there’s Clive.
The lovable yet snarky kitty, that in my mind is a cross between Garfield and the Chester Cat. He brought a refreshing level of humor to the story’s end. All in all, it was a pleasant read which had some funny as well as tender moments. Alice Clayton has a great writing style as well as a warped, witty sense of humor.

Novelist
Alice Clayton makes her home in St. Louis where she enjoys gardening
but not weeding, baking but not cleaning up after, and is trying
desperately to get her long-time boyfriend to make her an honest
woman--and please buy her a Bernese Mountain dog.
After working
for years in the cosmetics industry as a makeup artist, esthetician, and
educator, Alice picked up a pen (read laptop) for the first time at 33
to begin a new career: author. Having never written anything longer than
a grocery list, she soon found writing to be the creative outlet she'd
been missing since walking away from the theater 10 years before.
She
has a great time combining her love of storytelling with a sense of
silly, and she was shocked and awed to be nominated for a Goodreads
Author award in 2010 for her debut novels, the first two installments of
The Redhead Series--The Unidentified Redhead and The Redhead Revealed.
Her latest novel Wallbanger is a return to her trademark comedic
erotica, or funny smut, that Alice has become known for.
Additionally,
Alice loves spending time with her besties on Not Your Mother's Podcast
(check them out on iTunes) and has recently partnered with actor Greg
Grunberg, blogger Brittany Gibbons, and actress Keili Lefkovitz on a new
travel show that will begin filming in January.
Alice enjoys pickles, Bloody Marys, eight hours of sleep and a good pounding.
