We are excited to bring you the AMAZING cover for KISS MY BOOTS, the second standalone in The Coming Home Series by Harper Sloan releasing Summer 2017.
In this second of the sultry, Western-set Coming Home series from New York Times bestselling author Harper Sloan, Quinn Davis might finally have a shot at her own happily-ever-after—but will she let love in, or will she tell it to go ahead and kiss her boots?
Quinn Davis prefers to live her life quietly. She’s the stereotypical tomboy with two overprotective big brothers who have always been there to protect her, especially from devilishly handsome cowboys with silver tongues. That is, until Tate Montgomery comes riding into town. Their first meeting, however, is far from something out of a fairy tale and only further convinces Quinn that men aren’t worth her time.
Tate returns to his childhood hometown to start his life over and get a second chance at happiness. He might not remember Quinn from the summer vacations that he used to spend on his PawPaw’s farm but all it takes is one glance, and he can’t get the raven-haired beauty out of his mind. Can two people who have stopped believing in love take a chance to find it in each other? Or will the pain of the past prove too great a hurdle to conquer?
In Lost Rider, the first Western romance in New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Harper Sloan’s Coming Home series, an injured rodeo star encounters an old flame but will she be just what he needs to get back in the saddle?
Maverick Austin Davis is forced to return home after a ten-year career as a rodeo star. After one too many head injuries, he’s off the circuit and in the horse farming business, something he’s never taken much of a shine to, but now that it’s his late father’s legacy, familial duty calls. How will Maverick find his way after the only dream he ever had for himself is over?
Enter Leighton Elizabeth James, an ugly duckling turned beauty from Maverick’s childhood—his younger sister’s best friend, to be exact, and someone whose heart he stomped all over when she confessed her crush to him ten years back. Now Leighton is back in Maverick’s life, no longer the insecure, love-stricken teen—and Maverick can’t help but take notice. Sparks fly between them, but will Leighton be able to open her heart to the one man who broke it all those years ago?
Written in the vein of Diana Palmer and Lindsay McKenna, this Texas-set series is filled with sizzle, heart, and plenty of cowboys!
Harper is a NEW YORK TIMES, WALL STREET JOURNAL and USA TODAY bestselling author residing in Georgia with her husband and three daughters. She has a borderline unhealthy obsession with books, hibachi, tattoos and Game of Thrones. When she isn't writing you can almost always find her with a book in hand.
Fallen Billow should be in college like most of her friends, but instead she’s raising her brother and working as a housekeeper at a vintage local hotel. It’s back-breaking work, but not nearly as challenging as fending off unwanted advances from the hotel’s owner.
Thomas McHugh is fighting for our country, across the globe and decades before Fallen Billow was even born. So there’s no way they’re soul mates. There’s no way he can be desperate to see her, hold her, kiss her. Except there is.
Is it a dream when he inks his name on her skin? Is it a delusion when she puts her hands on his face and says she loves him? Nothing has ever felt more real.
Fate has etched paths for Thomas and Fallen that even time cannot touch. A Purple Heart proclaims Thomas’ valor and bravery. And his death. But Fallen dares to dream of the impossible. She wants Thomas to stay. Just stay.
A tribute to all who have served our country, this novel honors the impossible beauty of love and the endless power of hope. Come open your heart and celebrate the many facets of bravery with Fallen and Thomas.
Debra Anastasia has created a
website for Thomas McHugh - the veteran the book is in honor of. (It is recommended readers look at this website after reading the book)
This story touched my heart in ways it is so hard to put into words.
The fear I felt for my son when he was deployed to Afghanistan was
brought back in full technicolor. Thomas McHugh our hero in this story
and in real life. A love story to bring to life and give love and peace
to someone who should never be forgotten. Fallen our heroine was truly
strength personified. She had so much to deal with or her young
shoulders. Supporting her brother, protecting their home and each other
from an alcoholic mother. This girl was so strong and so brave. This was a story that had so much mystery that every page held a new surprise and I must've had my mouth hanging open for nearly all of the book.
If I wasn't in shock, I was terrified or swooning. Yes from one extreme emotion to another I felt deeply through every single page.
This was the sweetest
most passionate love story you'd ever want to read and I sighed with so
much emotion when I closed my kindle.
Don't forget that every day you
wake in a free world, that someone died to make it so. Thank you
Thomas. Thank you every single Fallen Hero.. Always.
“I bet you were adorable.” He put his knuckle under her chin and encouraged her to lift her head. She rolled back over and settled against his shoulder.
“I don’t want to be adorable. I want to be impossible.”
“How do you mean?” He kissed her forehead.
“I want to be impossible for you to forget, impossible for you to keep your hands off of.” She leaned up for a kiss.
“You’re my impossible then. Have no fear.” He tenderly reminded her he was her impossible, too, with his lips.
She put her hand against his stomach and snuggled in. “This is my spot. Right here. With you—it’s home.”
He swallowed before talking to the ceiling. “My heart was like a fist. Where I am? It’s not a place you plan to survive. I’ve been there for years, and it’s not about skill; it’s not even about luck. You get strapped into a machine, and fate’s driving. You can’t get out even if you want to. So you submit to it. You harden your soul. You get ready to die.”
He shifted, rolling on top of her. She sighed in contentment. Being beneath him made her feel safe and secure.
He kissed her lips, then the tip of her nose, before continuing. “But with you, it’s like my heart’s opening up, and I’m terrified to feel, after all this time. Yet I don’t have a choice. No matter where I am, I draw your face whenever I get a scrap of paper.”
He laughed a little. “We found a puppy, and I named it Fallen, just so I could say your name over and over. The guys think I’m crazy—such a strange name for a dog. But I don’t care. I’m gasping for you every moment I’m awake. And I’m making choices to keep me alive through the week.”
His eyes searched hers. “What if I’m not as tough as I was in the beginning? God, I hope no one is affected by my distraction with this. But in the end there’s you. Only you. Do what you have to to get back to me when you’re awake. You have to. I need you more than air, more than life right now. The softness of you, the tenderness in your eyes when you see me. I’m trying to force fate to throw me in your direction. To hurl me at you somehow. I don’t know if it will work. But I’m praying for it.”
Fallen touched his face, then his neck. “I will do everything I can to find you.”

Hannah jumps at the chance…as long as they keep things platonic. But soon Evan’s hot combination of charm, perfect kisses, and a serious sweet tooth melts her defenses.
As Hannah and Evan surrender to their delicious attraction, they are forced to confront the reality of her wanderlust and his heart condition. When love and hearts collide, can Hannah and Evan find their sweet ending?
I just want
to crawl inside Nina Lane’s mind as she magically brings her oh-so-swoon worthy
heroes and their romances to life. It never fails. Each time, with every story
penned, Lane touches the very heart of me as I become so totally lost within
her fantastical worlds. Everything around me simply fades away until all that
remains is the beauty created from her written words. It’s no surprise how
easily Evan “Heartbreaker” Stone stole my heart with all his sugary sweetness
and off the charts hotness. He melted me like a delicious piece of fine chocolate.
I savored Evan and Hannah’s passion filled journey in Sweet Escape ~ from their no-strings-attached fling to undeniable true
love.
My love story starts with a broken heart.
In Sweet Dreams, (the first
book in the Sugar Rush Series), we met the adorably stubborn Evan Stone and
learned all about his serious heart condition. Constantly under the watchful
eyes of his family, he was frequently reminded of his life-long illness and
limitations, much to his vexation.
One of the reasons why I loved Evan’s
character in Sweet Escape (aside from
his sexiness and luscious gorgeousness) was seeing his unwavering determination
to push the envelope. He lived life to the fullest, as much as his
circumstances would allow, and approached every obstacle head-on. Loved that
his physical weakness only served to strengthen his resolve. He fights for what
he wants, especially when it came to the family business and eventually
Hannah’s presence in his life. But there’s a vulnerable side to Evan that moved
me. Because of his health issues, Evan had insecurities, thus felt the need to
avoid long-term romantic relationships. He’s nicknamed “Heartbreaker” for that reason.
So when Hannah Lockhart stepped into his life, with her willingness to eventually
leave and travel the world, she seemed to be the perfect woman for a fleeting sex-filled
fling. The only problem… the connection between them became too powerful to
deny. As much as Evan’s fears and stubbornness tried to convince him otherwise,
Hannah was in his heart. And oh boy, these two were passionately hot and heavy.
Nina Lane certainly knows how to turn up the heat level to scorching.
I have to admit
I had some reservations with Hannah’s character for part of this read, as well
as when she was introduced in the first installment. She was a self-proclaimed
wanderlust, making her way around the world, blogging about her adventures. The
last place she wanted to be was stuck in a small town, running Wild Child
Bakery, during her sister’s absence. Her flightiness had me anxious as it caused
a bit of push-and-pull within the story line. Even though I always relish the
build up of angst, there were times her actions had me worried about how their
relationship would turn out. But given the opportunity, seeing the reasons why
Hannah felt the need to run from her family and past, I eventually understood
her mindset. In the end, she proved to be the right girl for lovable Evan.
I loved
seeing this couple work through their fears and difficulties while feeding each
other strength. How Hannah never focused on Evan’s weaknesses, only his love
and determination.I adored the way Evan
got all that was Hannah, never judging and always supportive. For a man with a
“broken heart”, I found his character to have the biggest and most
compassionate heart of all. And holy crap was Evan dominating and HOT! The
sexual chemistry this couple shared was explosive. Honestly, Nina knows how to
write a sizzling sex scene that makes my heart flutter every time.
Sweet Escape was a great emotional, steamy
treat with just the right amount of drama, laughter and heartfelt moments built
into the story line. I’ll never get my fill of Lane’s writing style, the way
her stories flow and how she brings to life a cast of such lovable characters,
especially her sincere heroes. This is the perfect read for when your in the
mood for a truly feel good romance.
Although part of a series, this can absolutely be read as a standalone novel.
Thank you Nina for another wonderful reading experience. Looking forward to
more from the sexy Stone Brothers.
I voluntary
reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
