Book Blitz: A Love to Keep Me Warm by Gina Ardito @GinaArdito

A Love to Keep Me Warm
Gina Ardito
Publication date: November 10th 2017
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
After living in the carnival world, Polina Kominski is anxious to put down roots and build a life that includes a permanent home and, someday, a family. But first, she has to spend Christmas in Kraków, Poland to satisfy the final request of her late mother. Angry at having her strings pulled one last time, she’s resigned to follow the detailed instructions left to her, but refuses to believe the superstitions and allusions to magic Mom wants her to experience. And what’s with number eight on her mother’s itinerary, Kiss a Stranger?
To avoid facing his family’s sins, international banker, Rhys Linsey, will travel the lengths of the globe in his quest to regain the collection of ancient artifacts stolen from him years ago. When he runs into Polina on a Kraków street, he volunteers to help her experience the beauty of the holiday while sharing the history and folklore of this charming city. No matter how much she denies the existence of magic, he’s determined to prove her wrong.
Christmas in Kraków weaves a powerful spell, but Polina is running toward her future, while Rhys is stubbornly mired in the past. Can the magic of the holiday extend beyond December to bring Rhys and Polina full-circle to love?

—
EXCERPT:
The day after they meet, Rhys takes Polina on a tour of Krakow and begins with the city’s origins according to legend:
“Back in the eighth century, all of this land was a village on the River Vistula, with nothing but mud huts and peace-loving people who traded goods up and down the river. Set into the deep side of Wawel Hill was a cave where a terrible dragon named Smok Wawelski slumbered.”
She stopped in mid-step on the sidewalk and tilted her head to stare at him with disbelief. “A dragon? Really?”
“Give me a chance to prove it, okay?”
He gave her a pleading look that melted her polar heart. How on earth did he plan to prove a draconian legend? Curiosity overrode common sense, and with a light laugh, she agreed. “Go for it.”
Eyes crinkled with a secret smile, he gave one simple nod. “Thank you. Generations were warned against waking the dragon and unleashing its fury upon the poor village, but one day several young boys who, like you, refused to believe the tales, strode bravely up to Wawel Hill to see the dragon for themselves. They crept into the cave and soon came upon the enormous scaly tail of the horrible beast. Well, apparently, one of the boys was so terrified, he screamed, awakening the dragon. The children turned and fled, but the damage was done, and the horrible creature soon began wreaking havoc upon all the townspeople. The dragon would come into their village, day after day, stealing the livestock and carrying off the virgins to be devoured at its leisure.
“The villagers attempted several times to kill the beast, but always failed miserably. Until one day, a shoemaker’s apprentice named Krakus mixed up a huge vat of sulfur and coated dozens of sheep with the mixture. When the sheep were ready, he led them to a grassy spot where the dragon was sure to see them. The dragon, naturally, spotted the sheep and swallowed them just as quickly. Soon the sulfur began to take its toll, and the dragon could not contain his thirst. He raced to the River Vistula and drank, but no matter how much water he swallowed, the thirst continued to burn inside him. He nearly drank the river dry until, at last, he swelled so much, he burst like a balloon. Boom!”
As Rhys’s hands flew in front of her face, Polina jumped back with a squeal of surprise.
Chuckling, he pulled her closer and wrapped an arm around her shoulders. Nothing had ever felt so right as this man’s arm holding her close to his heart. She tilted her head at a slight angle, studying his lips, wondering how they’d taste against hers. All he had to do was bend his head forward a few inches…
“Well, of course,” he continued, apparently oblivious to her thoughts, “the village rejoiced at the dragon’s demise.”
She shook off the romantic silliness and refroze her heart. What had she been thinking? A kiss? Good God, she was behaving like her mother, acting on impulse, rather than logic. The last thing she needed was a love affair. Furrowing her brow, she took a step away from him to increase their distance then tried to refocus on his story.
“Krakus was named king and built a castle at the top of Wawel Hill where the dragon’s lair once sat. The village prospered into a city and was named Kraków in honor of their hero.”
Outside Wawel Cathedral, he stopped in front of a large stone wall where a strange collection of bones sat chained against the rock. An odd-looking snout rode above a rib cage about the size of a giant whale’s, some kind of bizarre cloven feet at the base.
“Behold,” Rhys whispered against her ear, sending delicious ripples of warm breath across her neck. “Proof. The dragon’s bones.”
Soft laughter escaped her lips. “Right. Good thing you brought me here. I wouldn’t want to waste my time on dusty old artifacts when I could see something as authentic as a dragon skeleton.”

Playlist for A LOVE TO KEEP ME WARM

Songs always play an important role in every story I write. To put me in the mood for
Christmas in Poland (while sitting in New York in July), I relied on two classical pieces,
and then for the personalities of my characters, I reverted to my usual standard modern
songs:

Vivaldi – Winter: This piece was especially important for me to write the opening
chapter of the story. You can feel the snow falling, sense the rush to Polina’s steps, and
the hectic crowd around her. It’s an ideal symphony of the mood I was trying to create.
Tchaikovsky – The Nutcracker, The Magic Castle on the Mountain of
Sweets: When writing about a traditional European Christmas, Tchaikovsky’s
Nutcracker is a go-to source of lots of inspiration. This lesser known piece has enough
lighthearted melody set against a brooding background to provide the feeling of dark
and light living together harmoniously in historic Krakow and in my characters.
Ed Sheeran – The A Team: Yes, it’s about a crack whore, but the lyrics are so full of
winter desperation, they perfectly captured Polina’s backstory of never having enough
food and never being warm or loved while living with a mother too drunk or stoned to
care about the inconvenient child.
The Academy Is… - About a Girl: An odd choice, maybe, but this tune with its fast
pace and obsessive lyrics fit Rhys’s feelings for Polina from the moment he met her on
the sidewalk in Krakow to the day after New Years when she flew away from him after
their biggest argument.
Angie Aparo – Cry: The saddest and angriest songs are needed for those moments
when I wondered how Rhys and Polina would ever figure it all out. “If your love could be
caged, honey I would hold the key.” Yeah.
Rick Astley – Cry For Help: See above.
Florence & the Machine – Dog Days are Over: I love good strong female voices.
Give me one singing about love lost or found and I’ll incorporate it into my story.

The Kongos – Escape: Rhys has one goal. To travel the world, escaping the sins of his
father and regaining the treasures stolen from him. He spends a lot of time trying to
convince Polina that she should accompany him on his adventures.
Travis – Flowers In the Window: This is Polina’s dream goal in song form: a home
of her own with flowers in the window and a man who appreciates the simple things in
life.
The XX – I Dare You: A song where two people discover love isn’t necessarily the
fairy tale they grew up with, but it could be something much better.
Bing Crosby – I’ll Be Home for Christmas: Because every Christmas story needs a
Christmas carol, and because this was rumored to be my grandfather’s favorite.
Texas – I’ll See it Through: Another strong female vocal determined to find love.
The Mills Brothers – I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm: Obviously, the
inspiration for the title!
Chris Cornell – Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart: Because every black moment
needs a male point of view.
Alice Merton – No Roots: I admit, this one got added in final edit stage, but it’s so
perfect for what Polina wants to leave behind while Rhys wants to fully embrace it.
Save Ferris – Nobody But Me: Every happily ever after needs a good ska song.
A Fine Frenzy – Now is the Start: This tune gave me the carnival hopeful mood I
wanted without resorting to calliopes.
Ian Dury and the Blockheads – One Love: For secondary characters, Bianka and
Henryk, I chose this song. I could almost picture them dancing to it as they shared little
bits of domestic bliss each night.
Baio – Sister of Pearl: This was a must-have for my gypsy girl.
Grouplove – Spinning: Just another song about finding yourself.
The Doobie Brothers – Take Me In Your Arms: A classic breakup song.
The Dirty Heads – Vacation: This one isn’t for the book so much as it is to remind
myself how much I love writing—even when the words don’t come easily.

I hope you’ll play some of these songs while reading the book. See if you can figure out
how I put them together or what scenes were perfect for which songs!

Author Bio:
I kill houseplants. There. Now you know one of my greatest shames. I'm not boasting. I just figure that if you're reading this, you're looking for more than how wonderful life is as a writer. So here are a few more of my flaws:
I sing all the time. I sing in the car. In the shower. While I'm grocery shopping. And I headbop while I sing. When I'm not singing, I talk to myself. Just ignore me and move on. You get used to it after a while.
I don't eat my vegetables. Seriously. I'd rather have a cookie.
I'm extremely fair-skinned and could burn under a 60-watt light bulb.
I can't sleep without background noise. If it's too dark and too quiet, all I have are my thoughts. And even *I* don't want to be alone with my thoughts.
Don't ask me to Zumba, line dance, or march in the parade. I have absolutely no rhythm.
Regrets. I have more than a few.
My favorite activity is sleep. I don't clock a lot of hours, but I powernap like a Persian cat and rejuvenate within ten minutes.
I consider shopping and dining out excellent therapy for anything wrong in my life.
My feet are always cold. Always. My husband claims it's because I'm an alien sent to Earth to destroy him. (He might be right about that.)
Coming to my house for a visit? Unless you've given me plenty of advance notice, be prepared. My floor will not be vacuumed, there will be dishes in my sink, and I only make my bed when I change the sheets once a week (I'm climbing back into it ASAP. Why make it?) Housecleaning is not high on my priority list. Okay, to be totally honest, it's not on the list at all.
I can resist anything...except ice cream.
Since this is our first date, I figure I've revealed enough secrets for now. But if you've read this bio and think I might be the author for you, pick up one of my books. You won't be disappointed.

Release Blitz: A Very Wellington Christmas by Annalisa Nicole

Title: A Very Wellington Christmas (a Running Into Love Novella)
Author: Annalisa Nicole
Genre: Adult, Contemporary Romance
Published: November 23, 2015
Quinn Landry loves the holidays, particularly Christmas. It’s her favorite time of year. She loves her family and especially loves being a part of the Wellington family. Family isn’t just a word to the Wellington’s…it’s everything.

She loves to spoil her nieces and has her sights set on graduating this spring. She believes that wishes and miracles, during this time of year, can come true. Her life couldn't be more perfect…until she opens her mouth under the mistletoe to one tall, dark, and brooding Levi Sutton.

Levi Sutton hates the holidays, especially the last two weeks in December. Seven years ago he lost everything that mattered in his life. He believes that wishes and miracles can only come true when unicorns fart glitter.

Other than his job, he’s bitter, withdrawn, and not interested in sharing his time or life with anyone…until his mistletoe encounter with the sassy, back talking, opinionated Quinn Landry.

If kissing under the mistletoe isn’t an option, can making a wish under the mistletoe bring not only one, but two wishes true?

Can Quinn crack Levi’s tough exterior and show him that hope, life, and love still exist?

Can Levi open his eyes to see past his clouded anger to finally forgive and allow his heart to feel love again?

Some stories hit you right when you need it. Love is not just a feeling ..it's a living thing. Sometime love can hurt. We lose people we love and that pain is just so deep that we can shut down. Or people we love hurt us and it's so hard to trust.
What happened to Levi would break the hardest and toughest person. Quinn was stubborn and saw through his pain to the sweetest heart inside. I believe love is something that heals and strengthens and that's what was found in this heartwarming story. Healing and strength from a new love and also from a family who takes you in and keeps you. I pray this year everyone I love has people like the Wellington family to support them. I also pray we spread some of that love around because you never know when that reaching hand might bring someone out of the darkness.

Annalisa Nicole writes exactly the perfect medicine for battered hearts.
Love stories with healing messages you just feel straight to your soul.

I'm an "Indie" Adult Contemporary Romance author. I've been married to my wonderful husband since 1996 and I love being a stay-at-home mom to our two teenage boys. I was born and raised in Michigan, but currently live in beautiful California.

A thought occurred to me in December of 2012 that maybe I could write a romance novel. So, I went to work with the encouragement of my husband and sister-in-law. It didn’t take long to figure out that I absolutely love writing.

Today I’m a self-published author and it has been an amazing journey. I published my debut novel Take A Chance in October of 2013.

This was a sexy sweet and really funny refreshing holiday read. Kyle was so funny and stood no chance with the single mom Crystal and the sweet Gi-Gi. This had everything I loved. Comedy,  mystery and of course romance with steam. Perfect Christmas paranormal romance indeed.

Ok so blown away right now. I haven't read a book that left such amazing joy in my heart like this in so long. Such feel good messages all the way throughout this heartwarming holiday read. I laughed, cried and swooned. Then just enough steam to have me warm all over.

Dean Mulligan had a hard beginning to his life that left him a little bitter on the inside. His past broke my heart so bad. But Lizzie was someone that started knocking down his walls and that scared him just a tad. She had her own battles that she fought hard to get past. Trying to push her away didn't work out like he thought. Lizzie was so full of life and love she wasn't gonna give up on Mulligan and then one moment changed everything. One fire for a fireman can be the fire that can change his life. Some adorable antics from "ghosts of past and the present" made this one extraordinary emotional read. A sweet holiday story that would warm the hardest of hearts will be found in this amazing novella. I honestly was left with so much hope and happiness in my heart I want to beg everybody to give it a try. I know I'm about to read every book in this series and I want the first book in the next series like NOW after all the hero is named Caleb HART .. :)

12 Days of Christmas: Naughty or Nice?
by Eva Simone

This review is only for

Eva Simone's A Christmas to Remember

I was quickly swept away in this sweet and sexy fantasy romance. The whole time my pulse was either racing from the heat between the two characters or because the mystery was so thick and exciting. I wanted something good to happen after so much pain in Paige's past. Truly this was a love story that makes you want to believe that when love is true ..it's forever no matter where you are. A sweet holiday romance for anyone. All you have to do is believe.

My holiday reads were sugary sweet, heartwarming romances sprinkled with a bit of humor. Hope you will enjoy them as much as I did.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Baby, It’s Cold Outside

It’s a Wonderful Tangled Christmas Carol by Emma Chase

5 Stars

Emma Chase does it again with yet another fantastically funny tale in the Tangled Series starring one of my favorite characters... Drew Evans.

I will never get enough of Drew’s sarcasm, quick wit and devilishly sexy ways. I love being inside his head and seeing the world from his point of view.  This time, poor Drew is having a nightmarish Christmas Eve. From being stuck on line last minute Christmas shopping for Kate’s gift, to focusing on business rather than family during the holiday, Drew has lost sight of what truly is important in life. As usual, trouble surrounds him at every turn. But tonight’s Christmas Eve, and Drew has help getting his act together as he is led on an amusing journey reminiscent of the stories “Scrooged” and “It’s a Wonderful life”.

The story fast-forwards five years into their marriage and son James is older and more adorable. Drew is as cynical and sexy as ever.  What I love most about Drew is how he manages to overcome great obstacles to right his wrongs. Yes, he messes up BIG TIME, almost ruining Christmas for his family. But when paid visits by three ‘ghosts’, Drew manages to get his shit together, learns his lesson and saves the holiday.

““My arms wrap around her, holding her against me, her head resting against my chest. And in the light of the Christmas tree, we sway in time to the music.
Was it all just a dream?
Honestly? I don’t fucking know. But I’m grateful it happened. Because even someone as brilliant as me needs a refresher once in a while about what’s really important. The moments that matter. And the people we can’t and don’t want to imagine living without. As I dance with the love of my life on Christmas Eve, I swear I hear the soft ring of a bell. And if you believe what that legend says, then somewhere, an angel has gotten her wings.”

Through Emma Chase’s talents, these age-old stories were twisted, refreshed and retold in a way that was funny as well as heart-warming. I love her brilliant writing style that combines romance, comedy and love. “It's a Wonderful Tangled Christmas Carol” is a great little novella, perfect for the holiday season.

Saving Grace by Kristen Proby

4 Stars
Saving Grace is part of the Love Under The Big Sky Series, which I must confess, I have not read yet. However, I fully enjoyed Grace and Bax’s fun little romance all the same.

Grace is anything but graceful. Living in Montana, she never learned how to ski and her crazy cast of girlfriends set about righting that wrong. So off to the mountains, to a cozy yet fancy ski lodge and a sexy instructor to show Grace the ropes. What Grace finds is a hunk of a man who is much more than what he appears to be, with a British accent to boot, and holds more than the promise of a ski lesson. In Bax, Grace finds more than what she bargained for…love and romance.

Saving Grace was a fasted paced but cute ‘love at first sight’ romance. Their story has me know wanting to dive into this series.

Under the Mistletoe with Me
(With Me in Seattle #1.5)

4Stars

I love the With Me in Seattle Series and so happy Isaac and Stacy have their own story. Under the Mistletoe with Me is a sweet Christmas novella, which gives us a glimpse into this married couple’s life.

Things have gotten a somewhat routine, with little alone time between family pressure, work and children. This leaves Stacy believing Isaac is straying away. Leave it to the sexy and seductive “Eyes” to add spice into their relationship by making time to reconnect both physically and emotionally with his loving wife. Even though life has changed for them both, Isaac remains truly head over heals in love with Stace.

"Look at me." His hard voice surprises me. "I don't see the changes, Stace. I see my wife...I've been hot for you since the first moment I saw you in that bar in college."

Overall, this was a fun and sweet love story. It’s refreshing seeing into the romance of an already married couple. And these two certainly know how to create sizzling holiday heat.  If you are a fan of the series, this novella is a must read.

Kissing Under The Mistletoe
(The Sullivans #10)
By Bella Andre

4 Stars

This Christmas read pulled hard on my heartstrings. When first introduced to Mary and the Sullivan Family, Jack’s character was always in the background – the perfect, loving father and husband whose sudden passing left great emptiness in all their lives.  So happy to see how their love blossomed from a chance encounter to a heart stopping, world-wind romance. It was a bittersweet flashback story. Jack Sullivan quickly became my favorite character in this series.

Mary, a world-renowned model encounters a handsome stranger, Jack, on her last photo shoot. Jack, a struggling inventor becomes fascinated with beautiful Mary. What he comes to learn is that Mary’s beauty lies within her heart and soul. Jack is determined to make Mary a permanent part of his life. Their love, which transcends time, all began with a passionate kiss, underneath the mistletoe.

If you are a fan of this series, Kissing Under The Mistletoe is a must read. A sugary sweet romantic story which will leaving you swooning.

Steph's reads were feel good and hope inspiring. A second chance  romance that warmed the heart and a story of a single mother that didn't think she'd ever find love again.

All I Want for Christmas (Christmas in New York, #2)
After a night out enjoying the tree lighting ceremony in NYC - Cassandra and her girlfriend decide to stop in a bar for a drink.  Never, ever did she imagine when she walked into the bar that she would be ordering a drink from the man who broke her heart over seven years ago.
Sean was just as shocked to see Cassie in his bar.  After their breakup, he never thought he'd run in to her again - it is a big city after all.  But seeing her again, stirs everything up, and he needs to talk to her, he wants to make things right, he wants to try again - he just has to finally really explain his reasons for breaking things off all those years ago.

Cassie is not sure about what she is feeling when she sees Sean again.  There's so much racing through her head - lots of good memories, and then the hurt and pain he caused her when he suddenly broke her heart and ended their relationship.  She's torn between listening to her head or her heart.
If you love a sexy, sweet talking Irish man, then you are going to love Sean.  I really could not get enough of him.  I really rooted for him the whole time he was trying to convince Cassie to give him another shot.  Cassie did not make it easy for him, he totally had "to work for it".  I totally saw where Cassie was coming from though, and understood her hesitation and fear.  I just wanted for her to give Sean a break so bad.  Luckily for me - it's Christmas.

This Christmas
Finding love for the first time, and then having your heart broken at such a young age, is difficult for anyone.  But add being pregnant on to that, Sabrina was left to handle things the best way she saw fit.  And that was by not telling Jake he was a father.
Unexpectedly though, ten years later, Jake shows up in her life again - and now Sabrina has some explaining to do.  Not only to Jake, but to her daughter, who wasn't aware of who her father was.
This was a sweet, second chance love story between two people, who find the feelings they once had all those years ago, are still there and can't be denied.  But, forgiveness must come first.  It's also the story of a father and daughter meeting and getting to know each other, and love each other so easily.  How Jake interacts with Charlie will totally melt you heart.

Sometimes Christmas wishes do come true!

Merry Christmas everyone!!

I've gone for a mushy romantic story, a hot 'stranded at Christmas' fav

and a kinda kinky Christmas read this year!

Hope you enjoy them too : )

“Pretending that everything will get better if you just try harder isn't the answer, Sammy. Believe me, I tried it. Sometimes, the hardest thing in the world to do is admit that your stuff is too much for you to deal with on your own.”
I must be going soft! I loved this novella, it’s mushy and romantic but has depth. The underlying story of an army couple fighting to save their relationship whilst both suffering from the trauma’s of war was well written and packed a punch.
An hour well spent for me.

‘To a new year. And if you will agree, to a new beginning for both of us. What do you say, Ms Ryan?’

I was in 'snowy' 'cabin' 'stranded' heaven with this one! Honestly, those are like magic words for me!! I've never not loved a book about a couple surviving!
It's a lovely Christmasy story - hot Alpha action only let down it being stranger sex without condoms (and not even a conversation!) I don;t know that always reminds me of the bodice ripper type reads where they weren't mentioned as it would 'spoil a hot scene!'
Had it not been for that,
this would have been a 5 for me!

why not make more a fool of herself.

Etta was perfect!
I really felt this one! At 94% I was in tears!!
It's got this underlying story of a woman who's been treated like dirt for years by her family and when it all blows up - WOW!!
Loved the characters, loved the story...
LOVED the HEA!!
