4.5 – 5 sizzling stars for INFRACTION
Lovey
hugs, Honey bears and honey bunch of O’s…”Infraction “ was worth the wait.
Listen
up kiddies; this book/series is not for the faint of heart. K.I.’s tale is for mature women who can put
on their big girl panties and throw themselves into a love story about two
broken souls that are desperate to heal each other. If you can’t handle the heat, move along to
find another corny, mundane love story filled with rainbows, butterflies and
unicorns. Consider yourself warned.
I
sensed a difference in the tone while reading INFRACTION. It was intense, but
not the same physical/sexual intensity as in BREACH. (oh, trust me. There are hot scenes for you Nathan lovin’
cock whores). But the intensity, for me,
was in exploring Lila and Nathan’s fears, love and affection. We are exposed to the their past tragedies
that molded them into the characters they are today.
Nathan
is desperate and struggling to become the man that Lila needs. He is battling his fears to find his strength
in order to be strong for her. Lila,
with due cause, shies away from Nathan’s affection. I do not blame her for distancing herself
from him. He has shattered her heart and
virtually destroyed her. Nathan’s guilt
weighs on him and he feels responsible for the further tragedy and accident she
has endured…
”If what? Hadn’t left me? Broken me?
Left me a shell of the paper-thin
person I
already was before you? If that is even possible.…You didn’t do this physical damage to me. What you
did was far worse.”
Wow. Lila grew a pair.
I
was pissed, so pissed off at Nathan for leaving Lila at the end of BREACH. He left her broken hearted, but he had his
reasons, which we discover later in the story.
Leaving Lila was so difficult, but necessary in order to protect her and
himself. Nathan truly loves Lila, so
much so that he is willing to sacrifice having her in his life. He does not want to lose Lila the way he lost
his wife and unborn child years ago. Their
deaths had a profound affect on Nathan.
It is this fear that causes his constant internal battle...the need to
distance himself from Lila and fighting the urge to consume her with all the
love, lust and passion in his soul….
“I’m yours. All that I am, if you want it. I’m not much, but I know I can be so much more with you.”
…and
oh does Lila want. Come on, who can
resist that sexy beast. Needless to say,
there’s fireworks heating up the sheets at casa del Nathan ;)
Nathan’s
love is all that Lila needs. Suffering
from a childhood of emotional and physical abuse and neglect, Nathan’s love
feeds her strength. But, Lila has the
additional fear of living in the shadow of Nathan’s deceased wife….
“I can’t be a replacement. I won’t be.
You haven’t had closure and until then…after all that has happened
between us, I need to matter more than a memory. Not only that, I don’t know if I can let you
back in. You hurt me more than anyone
else in my life.”
Lila,
you ripped my heart out. These words
have a huge impact – especially learning how much hurt she has endured from the
hands of her bastard of a father and brother.
Oh
Nathan…what you do to me. Your rugged,
macho exterior hides such sweetness and makes my heart pitter-patter …you floor
me with your proclamations of love.
…”You are my everything. My future
Lila. I’m in love with you. I
can’t imagine my life without you. You
fill my heart and make me
whole. No one will ever compare to you
or the way you make me feel….with
you, I am reborn.”
OH.
MY. GOD. Such sweetness. Ah, but with
the sweet comes his lustful words that can cause a girl to blush and swoon.
…”Because you are a dirty girl. Your moans are mine, your body is mine…. you are fu@king mine”
These
two lovebirds have a rough road ahead.
Struggling to find their way back to each other, find a way to stay
together, and conquer their past demons…it is a tough battle they need to win
in order to carve a path a happy future.
Although
the book ends on a happy note, there are story lines and sub plots that are
left dangling. I can’t wait for the
sequel. Until then Honey Bears…..don’t
rip out your sheet rock and keep dreaming of the sexy and abrasive Nathan
Thorne.
