Eva Mercer’s a mess. She’s single, nineteen, seven
months pregnant, and living off the good graces of her cousin. In the midst of
a complete attitude overhaul—or at least trying to change—the last thing she
wants to think about is men. She’s done with them. For good. Or at least she
was until Pick.
For ten years, Pick Ryan has dreamed about this
girl. He knows how she smells, what it’s like to hold her in his arms, how she
tastes when he kisses her. But he’s never actually met her. He doesn’t even
know her name. He just knows she’s the one. It’s his brand of luck that she
would walk into the bar where he works on the very day he gets married to
someone else.
Pick and Eva come from completely different worlds,
and yet the connection they share draws them together too tightly to matter.
Nothing can keep them apart—except maybe a three-month-old boy whose life
depends on just that. And so, their love becomes forbidden.
I
grew up on a dairy farm in the Midwest as the youngest of eight children. Now I
live in Kansas with my husband, daughter, and our nine cuckoo clocks. My life's
been blessed with lots of people to learn from and love. Writing's always been
a major part my world, and I'm so happy to finally share some of my stories
with other romance lovers.
What do you do when you find out you’re pregnant,
your boyfriend rejects you, your sister is beaten half to death and the most
annoyingly gorgeous man takes up residence in your house? Well ladies, there is
only one thing to do, pull up your big girl knickers and show the world your
middle finger.
Louise Beaumont is renowned for her sharp wit, smart
mouth and sassy personality. She comes out swinging in an argument, even when
she’s wrong. But even some events in life can knock her on her arse. And
fighting through the sludge of emotional pressure she’s had poured over her is
taking its toll.
Johan Senior is broken. A man with a deeply
traumatic past, shadows and monsters haunt his every waking hour. That is until
a heavenly angel is sent in the form of a loud mouthed chestnut haired vixen,
who threatens his manhood countless times. But his heart grabs onto her and
refuses to let her go. The only problem is, his mind needs to allow him the
pleasure of human touch, and to take that terrifying step of allowing someone
into his heart.
Part of the Surviving series but can be read as a
standalone novel.

“Be My Hero” is the third installment in
the Forbidden Men Series and Linda Kage has done it again… creating yet another
loveable, sweet and sexy book boyfriend ~ Patrick “Pick” Ryan ~ He is a hero in
every way, a true knight in shinning armor. I easily fell for his charms, his
tender heart and all his gallant ways. Pick and Eva’s story is one filled with
several bold characters that rise up to brave great challenges. It is a
wonderful tale of destined love, insurmountable courage, overcoming emotional
pain, and the undying pursuit to find happiness.
The Prologue ~
This was one of the best prologues I’ve
come across in a long while. To enjoy it’s beauty, you really need to suspend
all logic and believe in the magic of fortunetellers. We are first introduced to Pick and witness
his dismal childhood. Being raised in the foster care system, life holds little
hope for him and his friends. Until one evening he encounters Madam LeFrey, a
soothsayer, who feeds him HOPE. Visions flash before him of a life filled with
purpose and promise; the promise of happiness and joy; of love and family; and
most importantly, the promise of finding his true soul mate…. Tinker bell. But these visions, I feel, were a blessing and a curse for Pick. They showed him a beautiful life… but when will it be his to enjoy?
I first met Eve in “Price of a Kiss’ and honestly, I REALLY DISLIKED her character. She was a bitchy, slutty, mean-spirited girl whose careless lifestyle led her to be left stranded and pregnant. With nowhere to turn, she mooches off of her cousin Reese and boyfriend Mason. But as they say, you never should judge a book by its cover. I did, and I was happily proven wrong.
As I got to know Eva
and discovered her closely guarded secrets, my heart ached for her pain. Eva
lived a nightmare, and the hard lessons she learned caused her to distrust the
people (especially the men) in her life. Her character transformation shocked
me as I found I adored and admired her bravery and strength. A misunderstood sassy girl who has suffered
both physical and emotional horrors, Eva is a hero in her own right. She is affectionate, caring and displays overwhelming
courage in the way she loves her children, her friends and Pick.
Sweet Pick… it was easy to fall for him.
He’s a tattooed and pierced mechanic/bartender that wormed his way into Eva’s life
and my heart. He has all the bad boy “playa”
qualities, but nothing could be further from the truth. Pick is uniquely
different and the noblest of men. An honorable guy with a heart of gold, Pick
protects all in need without expecting anything in return. He loves
unconditionally. What I relished the most was his determination to fight for a
better life. Loved the way he cared for his children, for Eva and friends. Pick
easily became one of my favorite Forbidden Men.
I really enjoyed reading “Be My Hero”. It
goes without saying I enjoyed the chemistry and passion between Eva and Pick. I
liked seeing the story from dual points of view. Although this is a sweet love
story of courage and friends falling in love, Kage weaves some very serious taboo issues into her tales. Terrible things befall these young adults at the
hands of some of the most nefarious characters. There was a great deal of angst
and nail biting tension embedded in the plot, creating twists and turns that
kept the story line interesting. All in all, it was a passionate, swoon worthy
read. Added bonus, Kage treated us to an insight to some old friends from
“Price of a Kiss” and “To Professor, With Love”. It was a perfect mix of love,
romance, heartache and DRAMA. Looking forward to the next installment and more
from the Forbidden gang. Thank you, Linda Kage, for yet another captivating
love story.

mate.”

Linda Kage has a way of writing a story that takes me on a complete and utter voyage of emotional highs and lows. I confess that while reading this book I may have resembled at times a raving lunatic one moment then a sobbing basket case the next. Then right after that I nearly peed from laughter!
In this installment we were blessed with the appearances of some favorite characters. Mason and Reese were so special to me and I've thought of them often since reading Price of a Kiss. What Mason went through is something I normally can't read about in romance books but his story was one of those special cases. So when he showed up in this book with Reese and I got to see more into their love story I was thrilled. But with the good ...you sometimes get the bad..and Mrs. Garrison is way freaking bad.
We were also clued into the past of Eva and why she was such a raving bitch in the previous book.
Her childhood made the movie Mommy Dearest look like the Wizard of Oz. ( pun in intended)
Eva totally threw me for a loop and I felt so bad for misjudging her before this.
The title of this book Be My Hero is PERFECT for Pick.
This sweet man..was by far my favorite character of the series and I thought Mason would always take that award. But Pick was everything I love in a book boyfriend. He had the biggest heart and the most amazing sense of humor.
Yep, I was going to have to call in and quit my job. Both jobs. I could become a professional couch potato and just drool every time she walked past. This was my new life goal.
His loyalty knew no boundaries and his love for Eva his "Tinker Bell" was beautiful and the way that Eva opened her heart to Pick and they just purely loved each other. Sigh...sweet romance heaven.
This special family has left some pretty sweet little foot prints on my heart and I must say that if you love perfect heroes who would do anything for the love of their woman a long with being the best man for any child out there, then you gotta snatch this book up right now.
I sure hope that Quinn's story is one that I can read..but at this point I'm just not sure. But Linda has been known to take me right against the boundaries of my comfort zone and keep me from falling over...so maybe she'll surprise me yet.

Hi!
What to say about myself...I don't really have anything interesting to offer
other than I love to read, and create stories for others to enjoy. I've always
been told I have a vivid imagination, I just lacked the confidence to pursue
putting it onto the the written page. But finally I embarked on making a single
dream come true.
I
love to read, and write. I only read romance, any genre really, but it has to
have a beautiful romance. I also demand a HEA, even if it takes two or three
books to get there. Reality is too broken and jaded without having to live
through the trauma and angst in a book for it to end unhappily.
YAY!! Thanks for being a host on our book blast! It looks great! And thanks for the amazing review for Pick and Eva! Hate to say it, but I bet you'd like Johan in Surviving Love even more! :)
ReplyDeleteOur pleasure and thank you! Yes, loved, LOVED Pick, Eva and their story and looking forward to meeting Johan in Surviving.
